I finally got the laptop I have always wanted a MacBook pro! It is a a1211 model which i found out can not run osx 10.10 but can run osx 10.7.5 which according to my friend at apple is still a very capable version. What OS X version do you have?
If you have a Mac with OS X Version 10.6.7 or higher, you can upgrade to OS X Yosemite. If you don't know what version of OS X you have, just click the Apple icon at the top left of your screen and then select 'About This Mac.' The number underneath 'OS X' is your version number. How much RAM do you have?

The New OS X Yosemite 10.10 have lots of new features and updates and of course you will update to OS X Yosemite when available to everyone this fall. But before that you must know the OS X Yosemite system requirements. I have already dual boot OS X Mavericks and OS X Yosemite beta on my MacBook 13-in, Mid 2009 (Intel 2.26GHz Core 2 Duo with 4GB of RAM, NVIDIA GeForce 9400M) and its working absolutely fine.
